Babagana Zulum, the Governor of Borno State, led a group of people from Borno to attend the funeral prayer of his spokesperson, Isa Gusau, at the National Mosque in Abuja on Sunday.Â
The delegation included senators representing Borno Central and Borno North, members of the House of Representatives from Borno, the Secretary to the State Government, and the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC, Mele Kyari.
Before the funeral prayers, Governor Zulum, along with Vice President Kashim Shettima, personally transported Isa Gusau’s remains from Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport to the National Mosque in Abuja, where the ceremony took place.
Isa Gusau passed away on Thursday evening in an Indian hospital after a prolonged illness.
Gusau, who served as Special Adviser on Public Relations and Strategy to Governor Zulum, had also held the same position under the former Governor of Borno State, now Vice President Kashim Shettima.
He was 47 years old at the time of his death and left behind two wives, three children, and several siblings.
Following the funeral prayers, Governor Zulum expressed his deep sorrow over Isa Gusau’s passing, acknowledging that the entire Borno State was mourning. He thanked everyone who had offered condolences and prayed for the deceased.
“Inna lillahi wa Inna ilaihi raji’un, it’s a very sad moment. Indeed, every soul shall taste death. May Almighty Allah admit him into Jannatul Firdaus.
The demise of Alhaji Isa Gusau has created a very big vacuum in the annals of Borno State, and the entire people of Borno State are in grief. We pray for Almighty Allah to forgive him,” said Governor Zulum.
