South-West in Danger if Nothing Is Done— Majeed Dahiru Raises Alarm, Demands Community-Based War Against Terrorists

Public Affairs analyst Majeed Dahiru has declared that the Nigerian government must stop treating terrorism with kid gloves, insisting that terrorists should be eliminated rather than negotiated with.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television monitored by The News Chronicle, Dahiru argued that the Nigerian Constitution makes no provision for amnesty or pardon for terrorists, while also condemning what he described as terrorism apologists.

He raised alarm over the growing spread of insecurity into the South-West, warning that the region now faces a serious threat if urgent action is not taken.

“If nothing is done now, the South-West is in imminent danger,” he warned.

Dahiru said insurgent groups such as Boko Haram are driven by extremist religious ideology, stressing that the present Tinubu-administration must confront terrorism with full force.

The Technical Member, Lux Terra Leadership Foundation also faulted the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, accusing it of handling banditry too softly despite the scale of bloodshed and destruction across parts of the country.

Calling for tougher measures under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dahiru urged the Federal Government to formally declare war on terrorism and strengthen local security architecture.

He specifically advocated the reform and proper arming of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, saying the agency should work closely with local communities to combat non-state armed groups terrorising vulnerable areas.
