As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the North-South Power Foundation (NSPF) has given agricultural inputs to host villages in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
The corporate official gave the host communities the farm supplies, which included 70 cartons of one-liter herbicide slasher gramozone each carton and 210 bags of 50 kg NPK 15-15-15+10.2S golden fertilisers.
Seventy cartons of buta foam atrazine pesticide were also given as part of the business’s CSR to the communities it serves.
Speaking to reporters right away following the Friday handover of the commodities at the Palace of the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umaru Farouq Bahago, the Company’s representative, Malam Aminu Massaga, stated that the inputs will help farmers produce enough agricultural products.
He claims that the corporation has a practice of supporting farmers at the start of each rainy season by donating agriculture inputs.
He stated, “These inputs are post-emergence and pre-emergencies.”
Professor Danladi Hakimi, a former board member of the State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), accepted the products on behalf of the host communities and praised the NSP for the gesture as well as for responding to the local farmers’ demand.
According to him, the inputs will be split among the twelve districts that are home to the hydroelectric plant and would be impacted by the dam’s construction.
“This is an extremely admirable gesture; farmers make up 90% of these communities, and many of them cannot afford the expensive inputs.”
He remarked, “We are pleased that NSP paid attention to our concerns and provided us these items at the appropriate time. We also promised that our people will use them responsibly.”
Hakimi, however, pleaded with the business to provide farmers in the host villages with large-scale farming equipment such as tractors, planters, harvesters, and sprayers.
He promised the host towns’ unwavering support in order for the business to run in a tranquil and accommodating setting.
