Gunmen Attack Abuja Nightclub, Kill DJ

A tragic incident occurred at the Volcano nightclub in Gwarimpa, Abuja, where DJ Bashiru Bello, popularly known as DJ Bash, was killed during a robbery.
The robbery took place early on Saturday morning, during a gig that had started on Friday night. DJ Bash was shot dead inside the club.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Federal Capital Territory, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident and noted that the police were not alerted in time.
Despite this, she assured the public that an investigation had begun and that the police were handling the situation.
She also urged residents to remain vigilant and to contact the police immediately if they notice any suspicious activity, promising a swift response.
This incident adds to the growing security concerns in Abuja. Recently, a joint police and military operation successfully repelled an attack on a bank in the Abaji area of the city.
According to a statement by Adeh, the attack occurred on June 13, 2024, around 5:00 PM, when a group of 15 armed men tried to rob First Bank PLC using dynamites. The attackers also targeted the Abaji Divisional Police Headquarters.
The prompt response from the police, led by Commissioner of Police Benneth C. Igweh, and the military, resulted in the arrest of three suspects, while others fled with injuries.
Adeh’s statement highlighted the effective coordination and swift action that helped thwart the robbery attempt.
As the investigation into DJ Bash’s murder continues, residents of Abuja are reminded to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the authorities to help maintain safety and security in the area.
