The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has undertaken proactive measures to extend assistance to people facing challenges by offering essential provisions such as food and other necessary items to alleviate their current circumstances.
A total of 3,840 households, mainly comprising vulnerable individuals and those in need, have received support in the form of food baskets.
Dr. Mohammed Goje, the executive secretary of the agency, explained that these households were identified through 68 Community-Based groups, Associations, and Organizations.
This support aligns with the directives of Governor Mai Mala Buni, who emphasized the agency’s responsibility to ensure the effective and fair distribution of assistance to every part of the state.
According to him “Our discussion to reach out to the beneficiaries was in line with His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni’s directives to periodically identify persons in need and support them with food baskets.
Dr. Goje emphasized the agency’s determination to reach people in all 17 local government areas, aiming to alleviate the challenges brought about by the removal of fuel subsidy in the country.
Some of the support provided was in response to requests and emails received from various groups and associations seeking assistance for their members.
“Some of the support we rendered was as a result of requests and mails received from the groups and associations for support to their members,” the ES said.
While encouraging fairness and justice, Dr. Goje called on the leaders of the supported groups to ensure the equitable distribution of the food baskets among their members.
Those who benefited from the assistance took the opportunity to convey their heartfelt thanks to Governor Buni, expressing deep appreciation for the prompt and substantial support that has played a pivotal role in substantially mitigating the difficulties and challenges they were grappling with.
