Selena Gomez has officially become a billionaire, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index. The American pop star, actress, and entrepreneur has built an estimated fortune of $1.3 billion, largely thanks to her successful Rare Beauty brand, along with her music career and popular TV shows.
Bloomberg reports that over 80% of Gomez’s wealth comes from her ownership in Rare Beauty. She has also earned money through brand partnerships, acting roles, and her involvement in mental health ventures.
Gomez first gained fame as a child star in the 2000s, notably earning around $3 million for her role as Alex Russo in Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place from 2007 to 2012. She later transitioned into music, initially with her band Selena Gomez & the Scene, and later as a solo artist.
On social media, Gomez is hugely popular, with 424 million Instagram followers, making her the third most-followed person after Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Interestingly, music tours have made up less than 5% of her wealth, and album sales have contributed less than 2%. She hasn’t toured since 2016. Instead, the majority of her fortune, approximately $1.1 billion, is from her stake in Rare Beauty.
