The President of the Arewa Youths has strongly criticised Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, accusing him of prioritising social media publicity over addressing the country’s growing security challenges.

In a circulating video obtained by The News Chronicle on Wednesday, the youth leader expressed anger over the increasing number of casualties among Nigerian military personnel, particularly in the North-East region affected by insurgency.

He alleged that more soldiers have lost their lives under the current leadership of the Defence Ministry than under previous ministers, claiming that the situation reflects poorly on the government’s strategy to tackle insecurity.

The Arewa Youths President further described the Defence Minister as a “social media content creator,” accusing him of focusing more on online appearances rather than implementing effective measures to protect troops and secure communities.

According to him, the continued attacks on military formations and communities have raised serious concerns among northern youths and other Nigerians who are demanding stronger action from the government.

The remarks come amid renewed insurgent attacks on military bases and communities in parts of the North-East, prompting calls for urgent reforms and a more aggressive security strategy.

As of the time of filing this report, the Federal Ministry of Defence has not issued an official response to the allegations raised in the viral video.
