Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has summoned all the country’s Service Chiefs to an urgent meeting following a series of recent attacks on military bases in the North-East region.
The high-level security meeting, scheduled to take place at the Defence Ministry headquarters in Abuja, is expected to focus on assessing the worsening security situation and strengthening military responses to insurgent activities.
Sources within the defence establishment said the meeting will bring together top commanders of the Nigerian Armed Forces to review recent operational challenges and develop strategies to prevent further attacks on military formations.
The North-East, particularly states like Borno State, has witnessed renewed insurgent activities in recent weeks, with terrorists targeting military positions and surrounding communities.
Further details about the outcome of the meeting are expected later.
