Prominent broadcast journalist and political commentator Rufai Oseni has publicly challenged former presidential candidate Peter Obi to clarify his position on fuel subsidy removal. Oseni called on the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) leader to issue a comprehensive position paper detailing the party’s policy template.
The demand follows recent public statements by Obi, where he pledged to reinstate petroleum subsidies after tackling corruption—a shift from his previous campaign stance advocating for the immediate removal of the subsidy regime.
Addressing the apparent shift in policy, Oseni emphasized that Nigerians deserve clear, consistent, and documented answers on critical national economic strategies.
“Dear Peter Obi, at first you said you will not back a subsidy return and now you back it. It’s essential for Nigerians to know where you stand as regards this matter. I will like to see a policy paper on subsidy by the NDC. A position paper is needed.”
The call adds to growing public debate surrounding economic reform proposals as political actors begin laying out their templates ahead of future national discourse.
