Rising Inflation: Obasanjo Advises Tinubu to Seek Help from Zimbabwe

—

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has advised the APC-led federal government in Nigeria to consider engaging with the government of Zimbabwe to address the worsening level of inflation in the country.

Obasanjo who stated this on Monday, March 4, at a youth leadership symposium as part of activities lined up for his 87th birthday, said that given Zimbabwe’s recent success in overcoming a similar challenge, Nigeria had Zimbabwe to learn from.

The former military leader and a two-time President, urged Nigerians to remain strong in the face of the current situation of things, adding that the tough must get going when the time is rough.

He appealed to citizens to take the situation to God, maintaining that the economic hardship and hunger will not be permanent.

“When the time is rough and tough, the tough must get going..no problem is new and no problem will be permanent. Committing suicide is not the end of any problem, confront it and take it to God because he could do anything.  When you have a problem look at those who have had this problem before and how they overcame it”.

The former president who stated that Nigeria is not the only country having this problem of galloping inflation added that Zimbabwe had this problem recently.

He stated further, “Shouldn’t we ask them how they did it even if our approach will be different? Even if whatever we shall be doing will be different but we can ask questions to navigate our way out.â€
