Happy 66th Independence. We have always been one — until we were taught to manufacture division and fake life.
For 66 years we have perfected one ritual: Public officials steal, citizens wail. Then citizens steal, public officials pretend not to see. It is a closed circle — a factory where we produce what we complain about.
That factory has a name: The Un-restructured Tribal Mind. THE FACTORY — WHERE NIGERIA BECAME FAKE
Miracle Centre is not an exam hall. It is our national factory.
April — child cannot spell “because.” July — 9 A’s in WAEC. That is not miracle. That is manufacturing.
Who is the manufacturer? Not the invigilator alone. Father who saved N300k, mother who fasted in car park while mercenary wrote paper, pastor who later mounted testimony: “God did it.” We did it.
In that single transaction we installed an operating system in that child: Honesty = foolishness. Hard work = waste. Price tag = on everything.
That operating system will run for 50 years:
He will be doctor with bought WAEC — hospital becomes mortuary.
He will be engineer with bought JAMB — building collapses in Lagos.
He will be pharmacist with bought result — chalk sold as Paracetamol, mother dies after birth.
He will be teacher with fake certificate — produces half-baked generation.
He will be public official — never believed merit, only purchase — so he inflates contracts, steals roads, water, light.
We complain of fake drugs, fake drinks, fake tyres, fake spare parts. Sir, fake products are not imported. Fake products are inevitable when a nation mass-produces fake people.
Nigeria is not poor. Nigeria is stupendously rich. Fake people made it poor.
THE MIRROR TEST
Ask: Where did public officials come from? Imported from abroad?
No. Government House did not recruit aliens. They were harvested from YOUR street, YOUR church, YOUR mosque, YOUR PTA meeting. Your former class captain. Your cousin. They are not different from us — they are upgraded versions of our small corners with bigger access.
Only difference is scale — you collect N5,000 at checkpoint because that is your access, he collects billions because that is his access. Swap chairs tomorrow, result is worse.
So don’t blame public officials alone. Blame the culture that trained them from age 15 that everything is buyable.
THE RE-BUILD — FROM MANUFACTURED FAKE TO 3Cs ORIGINAL
No public office alone can save Nigeria. Only a new mind can. That mind is 3Cs — CONSCIENCE, COMPETENCE, CHARACTER — Mind Restructuring.
We already have blueprints who lived it:
Conscience — Soyinka — Itu Egwu Chineke — chose 22 months solitary in prison over silence when tribe demanded compromise.
Character — Achebe — Agwa Oma — rejected national honours, chose truth when power offered decoration.
Competence — Bala Usman — Igba Mbo, Ikpachapu Aku Anya — aristocrat who said there is no Northern interest, only Nigerian interest manipulated by elite who weaponized tribe — chose people over class.
That is the new factory we must build.
How?
House: Swear — no Miracle Centre. Honest F9 > stolen A1. That is Agwa Oma.
Street: Refuse small bribe, refuse small cheat — delay today, save children tomorrow. That is Itu Egwu Chineke.
Community: Stop giving front-row seats to rogues in church, mosque, chieftaincy for unknown wealth. Shame fake wealth, honour merit. Stop defending thief because he speaks your language — thief from your tribe is still thief who will steal from you. That is Igba Mbo.
Ballot: 2027 flawless election — BVAS, IReV, real-time — is not about parties. It is where we demand freedom MLK described: “Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.” We demand with 3Cs votes — competence over tribe.
Nigeria will not rise when public offices change occupants. Nigeria will rise when the mind that fills those offices changes.
Don’t blame public officials alone. Look in mirror. Restructure your mind.
A nation that manufactures cheats as doctors will bury its own people with its own hands. A nation that manufactures 3Cs children will heal itself.
