Ribadu Holds Security Talks With U.S. Vice President, Secretary of State

National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu has held high-level talks with U.S. Vice President JD Vance and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on deepening counterterrorism cooperation in West Africa.

The meeting, revealed in a post by Secure Nigeria, underscored growing security collaboration between Nigeria and the United States as both countries intensify efforts against terrorism and insurgency across the region.

According to the platform, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expressed appreciation to U.S. President Donald Trump for Washington’s continued intelligence sharing, military training, and strategic support to Nigerian forces battling terror groups.

“President Tinubu is grateful for President Trump’s partnership and continued U.S. training and intelligence support as Nigerian forces intensify operations to dismantle terrorist networks, protect Nigerian Christians, and defend all vulnerable communities,” the statement read.

The post described Nigeria as Africa’s largest democracy and a frontline U.S. ally in the fight against extremist groups including ISIS and Boko Haram, amid escalating security threats spreading across the Sahel region.

It added that both nations remain firmly committed to defeating terrorism and strengthening regional security ties.

“This fight is winnable, and together, the U.S. and Nigeria intend to finish it,” the statement added.
