Residents Barricade Kaduna-Abuja Highway, Protest Rising Cases Of Kidnapping

Reports have it that residents of Gonin-Gora in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on Thursday February 29, blocked the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway to protest the rising cases of abduction and the recent kidnapping of an unspecified number of persons in the area.

 

It was gathered that the residents stormed the highway protesting and calling on the government to take a decisive action over the ceaseless spate of attacks by armed bandits in the community.

It was learnt that on Wednesday night, February 28, 2024, armed bandits launched an attack in the community and abducted an unspecified number of the residents .

 

According to an eyewitness who doubles as a resident of the area, revealed that the attack occurred at about 11pm to 3am on Thursday. He noted that the hoodlums operated uninterrupted for over four hours without any security operatives in sight. A situation he said, forced the residents to storm the highway in protest against the ugly incident.

 

He disclosed further; “We were woken up by gunshots as the bandits entered the community shooting indiscriminately. Several residents were taken away to an unknown destination by the heavily armed attackers that invaded the area”.

 

Meanwhile, it was said that some residents of the area had fled the community in fear that the bandits may possibly return. Meantime, the Joint Task Force of security operatives have been deployed to the scene of the protest to allow for easy flow of traffic.
