Renewed Hope Initiative Extends its assistance to elderly population in Borno

Senator Oluremi Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, through the Renewed Hope Initiative, has expanded support to the elderly in Borno.

This initiative, known as the Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme (RHIESS), focuses on the medical and social needs of the elderly, promoting inclusivity for all citizens.

Haj. Zuwaira Gambo, the Honorable Commissioner of the Ministry of Women Affairs, emphasized that the Renewed Hope Initiative, established under the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is actively addressing the moral, social, and now physical needs of the elderly in Borno State through medical outreach programs.

Representing Senator Oluremi Bola Tinubu, Dr. Falmata Babagana Umara Zulum, the wife of the Borno State Government, announced the allocation of N100,000 to 250 vulnerable citizens in each of the 36 states and the FCT.

This totals N950 million, approved by the Governing Board of the RHI, with transparent distribution of N25 million per state.

The First Lady emphasized that this financial support aims to recognize the elderly’s contributions and promote democratic inclusivity.

In addition to monetary aid, palliatives will be distributed to support their daily sustenance.

Dr. Falmata Babagana Umara Zulum expressed gratitude to state coordinators and partners for their support, ensuring the success of the initiative and the provision of free medical outreach to beneficiaries.

In a vote of thanks, Prof. Baba Mallam Gana, the Honorable Commissioner of the Ministry of Health, appreciated the RHI’s milestone support to the elderly in Borno.

During the medical outreach, the ministry pledged to provide necessary medications, optical care, and medical welfare services.

Prof. Baba Mallam Gana also highlighted the Zulum administration’s approval for the construction of Dental and Eye hospitals in Biu and Monguno, bringing dental and optical medical support closer to the people.

Additionally, plans for paramedical training institutions and various healthcare policies were announced to further healthcare development in the state.
