Real Madrid Records €1.22bn Revenue Despite Trophyless Season

Real Madrid has broken new financial ground after becoming the first sports club to surpass €1.2 billion in annual operating revenue, recording €1.221 billion for the 2025/2026 financial year.

The record was achieved even though Real Madrid lost the chance to win a trophy at the end of the season, which once again demonstrated the club’s increased commercial success and the revenue brought by the recent renovations of the Santiago Bernabeu.

The News Chronicle reports that the Santiago Bernabeu’s income increased by more than double compared to the figures registered before the start of the redevelopment. In particular, the revenue from the stadium reached €363 million, while the income from commercial activities accounted for €539 million, which was explained by the growth of sponsorship and licensing costs.

As a result, Real Madrid’s EBITDA increased by 18%, which amounted to €287.4 million, while the net profit grew by 8% and reached €26.3 million. Overall, it was the club’s 26th consecutive year of profit.

The club invested €192 million in sporting operations, facilities and technology, including €161 million on player recruitment.

The figures underline how infrastructure and commercial expansion are helping Real Madrid build a financial model less reliant on trophies, television income and prize money.

The club’s performance shows that elite football is increasingly a business of long-term investment as much as success on the pitch.
