The decision did not come by happenstance. It followed the conclusion of the party’s primaries review process, which was handled by the Primaries Appeal Committee and subsequently rubber-stamped by the National Working Committee (NWC), effectively putting a seal on weeks of internal scrutiny.
In a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Ishaq, disclosed that the NWC also upheld results from four other tiers of elections, covering governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, and state Houses of Assembly contests.
He further revealed that apart from a single exception in Kano’s Tarauni Federal Constituency, where the primary election was nullified, all other candidates received the green light to proceed to the 2027 polls.
According to him, the party will be fielding a total of 420 candidates across all elective positions in next year’s general elections.
“In line with our commitment to active participation in the electoral process, the PRP is proud to field a total of 420 candidates across all positions in the 2027 general elections,” he said.
Ishaq added that the party remains firmly committed to internal democracy and people-driven leadership, insisting that PRP is poised to present credible and transformative alternatives to Nigerians as the next election cycle gathers momentum.
