President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Nigerian-American basketball star Ejimofor Anosike for his stellar performance in the 2026 National Basketball League (NBL) Championship in China. Anosike, who plays for the Hong Kong Bulls, not only led his team to victory but also secured a trio of top individual honors.
He steered the Hong Kong Bulls to the NBL Championship title, while personally earning the prestigious Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, the Best International Player award, and the Slam Dunk Champion title.
President Tinubu stated that Anosike’s accomplishments demonstrate his “exceptional talent, discipline, and resilience,” noting that his success on the international stage “brings pride and honour to Nigeria and serves as an inspiration to young athletes across the country and the African continent.”
The President further remarked that Anosike’s achievements “reflect the growing global impact of Nigerians in sports and underscore the importance of continued investment in youth development and sporting excellence.” He also commended the basketball star for his patriotism, evidenced by the passion he exhibits as a member of Nigeria’s men’s basketball team, D’Tigers.
President Tinubu concluded by wishing the basketball star “continued success in his career and even greater milestones in the years ahead.”
