The police in the Federal Capital Territory, caught a pregnant woman named Mrs. Rosemary Ubah and another person named Walter Ezeala. They were caught because they pretended that Mrs. Ubah was kidnapped.
The Commissioner of Police FCT, Benneth Igweh, told Newsmen about this on Wednesday.
He told them while showing Mrs. Ubah and Walter to everyone at the police headquarters.
The boss of the police, Igweh, explained that they caught the two on March 11. This happened after Mrs. Ubah’s husband, Chiedozie Ubah, told the police in Gwagwa that his wife, who was going for a scan because she was pregnant, didn’t come back.
Chiedozie got a call from someone using his wife’s phone. The caller said Mrs. Ubah was kidnapped and asked for 2 million naira to let her go.
Chiedozie gave the money to his wife’s bank account as the kidnapper asked. Later, he brought his wife to the police station when she was released.
When the police talked to Mrs. Ubah, she said she planned with a man named Walter Ezeala, who lived in the same street as them in Saburi, to get money from her husband.
The police caught Walter too. He admitted that he got 800,000 naira from the plan, and Mrs. Ubah got 1.2 million naira.
The police found 793,500 naira in cash, two ATM cards from FCMB bank, and two Android phones with them. The police will take them to court soon.
