Police Reveal How Suspected Bandits’ Drug Supplier Was Tracked and Arrested

—

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug dealer allegedly supplying illicit drugs to armed bandits operating in Funtua Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, confirmed the arrest on Friday in Katsina.

According to him, the suspect, popularly known as “Dunbuje,” was apprehended by operatives attached to the Central Police Station, Funtua, on July 15 at about 5 p.m. following credible intelligence.

Sadiq-Aliyu said police operatives tracked the suspect before arresting him, adding that a search conducted after his arrest led to the recovery of 500 tablets of the illicit drug, D5.

He said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly specialised in supplying the drugs to suspected armed bandits and other criminal elements operating in Funtua and surrounding communities, thereby facilitating their criminal activities.

The police spokesperson said the suspect remains in custody while investigations continue to uncover his distribution network, identify his sources of supply and apprehend other accomplices.

He added that the suspect would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Sadiq-Aliyu said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Ali Umar-Fage, commended the operatives for their professionalism and swift response.

He noted that the commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks by disrupting their logistics and drug supply chains.

The police also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support efforts to combat crime across the state.
