Police officers who turned down N8.5 million bribe from kidnappers, have been rewarded

Four police officers in Taraba State were given special awards because they refused a large amount of money from people suspected to be kidnappers.

The commissioner of police in Taraba State, David Iloy Anomon, gave the awards to the officers during a ceremony in his office in Jalingo yesterday.

The officers who got the awards are Inspector Difference Tih, Inspector Ngamarju Gambi, Inspector Usman Haruna, and CPL Zarudeen Mamuda. The commissioner praised them for being honest and patriotic while doing their job.

He said, “We need to recognize and praise the excellent honesty shown by some officers and men of 40 PMF during a stop-and-search at the Kpanti-Napu checkpoint along the Jalingo-Yola road. Even though the suspects offered them a lot of money as a bribe, they refused it and arrested them.”

The officers also talked to journalists and thanked the police commissioner for acknowledging them. They promised to work even harder to serve their country and fight crime.

Meanwhile, three police officers from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) who worked at Zone 16 headquarters in Bayelsa State were fired because of bad behavior and corrupt actions.

The zonal public relations officer of the command, CSP Ikwo Kelvin Lafieghe, said in a statement on Friday in Yenagoa that the officers were dismissed after being tried for bad behavior and corruption.

The officers who were dismissed are Inspectors Edet Inamete, Jeremiah Oreeke, and Uche Collins. The aim of firing them was to remove dishonest people from the police force.
