Police nab Kaduna bandit plotting to establish camp in Kano forest

—

The Kano State Police Command caught a bandit named Isah Lawal from Kaduna. They found him with 55 cows and 6 sheep.

Deputy spokesperson of the command, ASP Abdullahi Hussaini, said Lawal was involved in armed robbery, kidnapping, and stealing cattle.

Lawal confessed that he moved to Kano State to start a new bandit camp in Gwarzo-Karaye Forest.

The police, led by SP Aliyu Mohammed Auwal, arrested Lawal during an operation in Karaye LGA, Kano State, near the Kaduna-Kano Border on January 4th, 2024, at about 5:40 pm. Lawal, 33 years old, is from Kaya Village, Giwa LGA, Kaduna State.

Lawal said they left their Maidaro Bandits Camp in Birnin Gwari LGA, Kaduna State because one of their leaders, Bashir from Malumfashi, Katsina State, was killed during a fight with another bandit group. Lawal then moved to Kano State, Gwarzo-Karaye Forest, to start a new camp.

The police are investigating further with the information Lawal provided to help tackle banditry in neighboring states.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, praised the police for their hard work and directed more police and equipment to be deployed to Kano State borders.

He also expressed gratitude to the residents of the state for their assistance and encouraged them to notify the nearest police station or use emergency contact numbers, such as 08032419754, 08123821575, and 09029292926, if they observe any unusual or concerning behavior.
