The Borno State Police Command on Monday hosted two Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) on an operational and community engagement visit aimed at strengthening intelligence-led policing and consolidating security gains across the North East region.
The delegation comprised the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Intelligence Department (FID), DIG Zachariah Fera Achinyan, and the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Research and Planning, DIG Zango Ibrahim Baba.
The visit was undertaken on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
During an interactive session with critical stakeholders, DIG Achinyan underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between the police and members of the public in addressing contemporary security challenges.
He stressed that actionable intelligence remains crucial to effective policing and reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to professionalism, accountability and service delivery.
The visiting DIG also conveyed the Inspector-General’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with communities and stakeholders to enhance public trust, improve intelligence sharing and promote lasting peace and security.
In a separate meeting with officers and men of the Borno State Command, the DIGs commended personnel for their resilience and sacrifices in the challenging operational environment of the North-East.
They acknowledged the Command’s contributions to counter-insurgency and stabilization efforts and urged officers to remain disciplined and proactive in tackling emerging threats through intelligence gathering and community engagement.
The visit provided an opportunity for strategic consultations with key stakeholders on measures to sustain gains recorded in the fight against crime and insecurity in Borno State.
Among the dignitaries present were the Commandant of the Police College Maiduguri, AIG Usman Mu’azu Mohammed; Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 15 (Borno/Yobe), AIG Dahiru Mohammed; Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid; representatives of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), traditional and religious leaders, members of the media and other stakeholders.
The Borno State Police Command reiterated its commitment to working closely with all segments of society to ensure the protection of lives and property across the state.
