The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested 48 suspects, including several women, during a joint security operation targeting suspected criminal hideouts in Gusau, the state capital.
In a statement issued on Monday August 3, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said the operation was carried out under the directive of the State Commissioner of Police, CP A.M. Bello, PSC+, MNIPS, as part of ongoing efforts to combat crime and enhance public safety across the state.
According to the statement obtained by The News Chronicle, the operation was intelligence-led and conducted in collaboration with other security agencies. It involved a show of force across strategic locations and coordinated raids on areas believed to be used as criminal hideouts.
The police said all 48 suspects are currently undergoing investigation, adding that anyone found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
During the operation, security operatives also recovered suspected stolen items, including 17 motorcycles, three bicycles, one generator, three large speakers, and three drums.
Commissioner of Police A.M. Bello reaffirmed the command’s commitment to eliminating all forms of criminal activity in Zamfara State and warned criminals to abandon their activities or face the full weight of the law.
