Pep Guardiola completes a historical treble with Manchester City
Following the 1-0 victory over Inter Milan last night, Pep Guardiola made history, winning City’s first treble and became the first manager to claim more than one European treble.
City won their first ever European title in Istanbul, Turkey last night. Rodri’s second half strike was enough to earn Cityzen their first UEFA Champions League.
Pep Guardiola treble includes the Premier League which they came from behind to override Arsenal, the F. A Cup trophy, and the UEFA Champions League final.
For the boss, the element of fortune needed to claim the Champions League fell on our side at the Ataturk Stadium.
However, he has called for his players to build on that success moving forward, and ensure they continue to challenge for the top prizes.
He said: “Now we have the first and the people can say ‘Manchester City have already the first Champions League’. But I don’t want after one Champions League to disappear.
“So, we have to work harder in the next few years, next season and be there.
“There are teams who win the Champions League after one or two seasons and disappear. We have to avoid it.
“Knowing where we’ve been this is not going to happen. But in the same time I have to admit it is a big relief for the Club, and for everyone we have this trophy.”
