Papaya Ex Denies Salary and Theft Allegations From Former PA

Nigerian influencer Papaya Ex has denied allegations made by her former personal assistant, Muna, who accused her of withholding salary and mistreating staff.

The dispute became public on Sunday, 31 May 2026, after a video surfaced in which Muna’s brother claimed she had not been paid for about three months, despite working as a personal assistant on a monthly salary of ₦120,000.

He said he visited Papaya Ex to raise concerns about the unpaid wages and alleged that during the confrontation, his phone was taken from him. He also linked the dispute to a missing phone incident involving Papaya Ex at an event.

In the video, he said:

“She has been working there for months without salary. We only came to ask for what is due to her.”

The allegations quickly circulated online, drawing mixed reactions from social media users, with some calling for clarification from both parties.

On Monday, Papaya Ex responded in a video posted on her social media pages, rejecting the claims and saying the narrative presented by Muna’s family was incorrect.

She said Muna was paid ₦300,000 monthly, not ₦120,000, and also received accommodation, transportation support, and daily upkeep.

She stated:

“Is ₦300k too small with accommodation and daily upkeep? We lodged you in a house and gave you transportation.”

Papaya Ex also said Muna handled parts of her business transactions, including receiving payments from brands, which she claimed made the situation more complex.

In the same response, Papaya Ex accused Muna of wrongdoing during her employment. She alleged that money and personal items went missing while Muna worked with her.

She listed the disputed items as:

  • ₦2 million
  • ₦200,000 intended for Muna’s brother
  • An iPhone 17 Pro Max
  • An iPhone 16 Pro Max, which she said was misplaced

She said:

“You stole ₦2 million, an iPhone 17 Pro Max, and misplaced an iPhone 16 Pro Max.”

Papaya Ex also said she had account records showing payments made to the assistant, though she did not release full documentation publicly in the video.

Some X users questioned the claim that Muna earned ₦300,000 monthly, asking for proof of payment. Others said the arrangement may have included non-cash benefits such as accommodation, which could explain differences in interpretation.

Others supported Muna’s position, arguing that unpaid salary claims should be addressed regardless of additional benefits provided.

The disagreement remains unresolved, with both sides maintaining opposing accounts of events. The matter has not been taken to court either.
