Oyebanji Calls for Unity, Prayers, and Charity as Ramadan and Lent Begin

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has called on Muslims and Christians alike to seize the season of fasting as a golden opportunity to draw closer to God and intercede for the state and the nation.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, in Ado-Ekiti, Oyebanji encouraged believers to use this sacred period for deep reflection, heartfelt prayer, and acts of generosity toward neighbors and those in need.

The governor highlighted the rare convergence of Ramadan and Lent starting on the same day, describing it not as a mere coincidence but as a divine signal, a reminder of the power of unity, love, and the supremacy of God.

“This year’s synchronicity is a clarion call for all of us to set aside divisions and embrace peace, understanding, and compassion,” he said.

Oyebanji specifically urged both Muslims and Christians in Ekiti to pray earnestly for the well-being of the state, especially as the campaign season for the June 20 governorship election kicks off. He reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and maintaining Ekiti’s reputation as the most peaceful state in Nigeria.

“Only in an atmosphere of peace and security can Ekiti continue to shine as a magnet for local and foreign investors,” he stressed.

The governor concluded with a heartfelt message: “We wish all our brothers and sisters in the Christian and Islamic faith worldwide, and in Ekiti in particular, a successful completion of the Lenten and Ramadan season. We covet your prayers for our administration and our dear state, especially during this fasting season. May God accept our supplications and fulfill our heart’s desires for our families, our state, and our country.”
