Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to ensure a free, fair and credible electoral process in the state, declaring that residents will not accept any form of election rigging.
Adeleke made the remarks while addressing supporters at a political gathering, where he said the people of Osun were prepared to participate peacefully in the electoral process and defend their votes.
Addressing the President directly, the governor said Osun residents were only demanding a transparent election and warned against any attempt to manipulate the outcome.
“President Bola Tinubu, I am passing this message to you. Osun will not accept any rigging,” Adeleke said.
He added that the people of the state would come out in large numbers to vote and ensure that their ballots count. “We will go out, vote and declare our vote,” the governor stated.
Adeleke noted that members of the Peoples Democratic Party had already endorsed President Tinubu as their preferred presidential candidate, questioning why the state should experience political tension if the electoral process would be free and fair.
“President Tinubu’s people and the core party have endorsed him as our presidential candidate. Why are we suffering? Why is our body being kept? We want free and fair elections,” he said.
The governor also described himself as the Chief Security Officer of Osun State and reiterated his appeal to the President to ensure that the forthcoming election is conducted without interference.
“I am the Chief Security Officer of Osun State. President Tinubu, I am passing this message to you. Osun will not accept any rigging,” he repeated.
He urged eligible voters to turn out peacefully on election day, cast their votes and remain committed to protecting the integrity of the electoral process.
Adeleke’s comments come amid heightened political activities and preparations ahead of the forthcoming election in Osun State, with major political parties intensifying their campaigns across the state.
