Osun Guber: Prepare to Sign Your Uncle as Your Dancer After Defeat — Uzodimma Replies Davido

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has fired back at Afrobeats superstar David “Davido” Adeleke over the singer’s remarks ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, telling him to prepare his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, for defeat instead of appealing to him.

Davido, whose uncle is seeking re-election, had alleged during a press conference on Wednesday, August 5, that he had received information suggesting an unnamed politician from Imo State was planning to interfere in the Osun governorship poll.

Although he did not mention Uzodimma by name, the singer urged the politician to allow the election to be free, fair and peaceful, insisting that Osun people should be allowed to choose their preferred candidate without interference.

Responding in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Electronic and Creative Media, Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, Governor Uzodimma dismissed the appeal, insisting Davido should direct his message to the electorate rather than to him.

The governor also took a swipe at the Osun governor’s re-election bid, claiming that many voters had rejected the current administration and were ready to elect the APC candidate in the August 15 poll.

According to the statement, “The reality is that Governor Ademola Adeleke has, in the opinion of many, failed woefully in the discharge of his responsibilities. This is why many Osun voters are determined to vote him out in the August 15, 2026, governorship election.”

The statement further claimed that political signals across Osun indicated growing support for the opposition, arguing that the electorate was prepared to embrace a new direction.

Uzodimma also mocked Davido, urging him to focus on preparing his uncle for life after office instead of making what he described as emotional appeals.

“Rather than attempting to influence Governor Hope Uzodimma through emotional appeals, Davido should concentrate on helping his uncle prepare for life after office, as the people of Osun appear ready to cast their votes massively in favour of the APC candidate,” the statement read.

In its most pointed remark, the governor’s camp said Davido should begin making preparations to officially sign his uncle as a dancer in his musical band, arguing that the outcome of the election would leave Governor Adeleke without a political office.
