OSOM Products Shuts Down Amid Funding and Product Challenges

OSOM Products will officially close its doors on September 6, 2024, due to a decline in customer interest for its mobile phone offerings.
The startup, which emerged from the remains of Essential in 2020, has faced numerous obstacles, including legal disputes and allegations of financial mismanagement.
OSOM initially aimed to make a mark with its privacy-focused OSOM Privacy Cable but fell short of its smartphone launch. Instead, the company provided technology for a web3 device developed by Solana.
In May 2024, OSOM pivoted to focus on an “AI-powered camera” project and downsized its workforce to reduce operational costs.
Despite efforts by CEO Jason Keats to sell the company to HP, the acquisition attempt proved unsuccessful. Additionally, OSOM struggled to secure new funding amidst challenging market conditions for consumer electronics startups.
The closure marks the end of a turbulent journey for the company.
