Ortom Sheds Light on 2027 Ambition

Former Benue State Governor, Chief Samuel Ortom, has firmly dismissed claims that he plans to return to the ballot in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement released on Saturday by his Media Adviser, Dr Terver Akase, and made available to journalists in Makurdi, Ortom described the speculation as misleading and unfounded.

The clarification follows widespread reports on social media suggesting that the ex-governor was preparing to contest the Benue North-West Senatorial seat in the next electoral cycle.

Addressing the rumours, Ortom stated unequivocally: “I have no intention whatsoever to contest any elective office in 2027. I have said this clearly, publicly, and repeatedly.

“I expect that a position stated this plainly would not require translation or creative reinterpretation.”

He stressed that his current focus remains on promoting democratic values, strengthening the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and providing guidance as a statesman rather than pursuing political office.

Ortom further called on the public to disregard the circulating claims, describing the report as “a fabrication”.
