Oriire Abduction: We’ll Bring Them Home -Oyo Govt Promises NANS, NUT, NLC

Oyo State Government on Tuesday met with representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, and Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, who led a protest to the State Secretariat at Agodi, Ibadan, over the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.

After listening to their concerns, the government assured the unions that authorities at the national, state, and local levels are working together to secure the safe return of the abducted children and teachers.

“We will continue to prioritise the safety and well-being of residents of our dear State, and we are open to feedback regarding the security of Oyo State,” the government stated.

The protest was triggered by the recent kidnapping in Oriire LGA, which has heightened fears among parents, students, and teachers. State officials reaffirmed their commitment to coordinating with security agencies to ensure the victims are rescued and to strengthen measures that will prevent similar attacks on schools and communities.
