OpenAI Developing ChatGPT Search Engine to Challenge Google Dominance

—

OpenAI, led by CEO Sam Altman with ties to Y Combinator, is gearing up to launch its own search engine, tentatively named the ChatGPT search engine.
The company has secured the domain “search.chatgpt.com” and a security certificate, hinting at an imminent release.
Speculations abound that this new search engine will merge traditional web search functions with the generative AI capabilities seen in ChatGPT, potentially revolutionizing the search experience.
If realized, the ChatGPT search engine could pose a significant challenge to Google’s longstanding dominance in the market.
With predictions pointing to a possible launch date of May 9, users may soon have access to AI-generated summaries alongside relevant web pages.
Additionally, the user interface is expected to be adaptable across various devices, drawing comparisons to Microsoft’s Copilot.
With the possibility of incorporating ads into the platform, OpenAI aims to create a new revenue stream in a market where Google currently commands approximately 90% of the share.
