Only Fools Will Believe That- Kwankwaso Denies Working for Tinubu, Reaffirms Obi Coalition Plan

Former Kano State Governor and National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has firmly denied claims that he is secretly aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, describing the allegation as politically ignorant and baseless.

Speaking in an interview with Global TV, Kwankwaso dismissed the speculation in strong terms.

“Only fools will believe that we are working for Tinubu. My supporters and I are working for the NDC and for what we believe will benefit Nigerians,” he said.

He stressed that while he shares a long-standing personal relationship with the president, it does not translate into political alignment, noting that both men remain firmly in different political camps.

Kwankwaso also alleged that some of Tinubu’s close aides are misleading him about the true state of the country, claiming they are more focused on political realignments and on persuading governors to defect to the ruling APC than on addressing Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.

On emerging political realignments, the NDC leader confirmed his involvement in a coalition with former Labor Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, saying the partnership followed extensive consultations and strategic considerations.

According to him, Obi was considered the most viable southern candidate within the evolving alliance.

Kwankwaso added that the coalition still has ample time before the 2027 elections to engage Nigerians and counter what he described as “misinformation” surrounding their political intentions.

He maintained that the alliance aims to offer credible leadership and present Nigerians with a genuine alternative to the country’s current challenges.
