NDC presidential aspirant Peter Obi has donated ₦10 million towards the reconstruction of Practising Primary School in Agulu, Anambra State, after a devastating fire destroyed part of the historic institution last year.
The school, established in 1922, is regarded as one of the oldest educational institutions in the community and has produced generations of pupils over the decades.
However, a fire incident last year razed one of its iconic buildings, leaving extensive damage in its wake.
Obi, during an earlier visit to the school, had pledged support for the rebuilding effort and promised to help provide a more conducive learning environment for the students.
Fulfilling that promise, the former Anambra State governor returned to the school on Thursday and presented an initial ₦10 million donation to kick-start the reconstruction project.
Speaking during the visit, Obi stressed the importance of investing in education, describing it as a vital foundation for community growth and national development.
“Our children deserve enhanced learning environments,” he said, adding that rebuilding schools is not only about restoring structures but also about renewing hope and securing a brighter future for young people.
He also interacted with the students, encouraging them to remain focused on their education and to embrace discipline, hard work, and dedication as keys to achieving success in life.
