The Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Commandant Maku Olatunde, has ordered the deployment of 771 officers and men, along with other operational assets of the Corps, for water-tight security ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr celebration and beyond.

The State Commandant stated this after his weekly tactical digest at the State Command Headquarters, Awka, through an operational order released for the festive period.

The NSCDC State helmsman disclosed that personnel would be strategically stationed at Eid Prayer grounds, recreational centers, markets, motor parks, as well as other Critical National and State and Local Government Assets and infrastructure prone to criminal activities.

“In addition, personnel from specialized units, including the Armed Squad, Female Strike Force, Rapid Tactical Squad, Anti-Vandalism Squad, Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosives (CBRNE) Unit, Counter-Terrorism Unit, and Disaster Management Unit, will be deployed to public spaces, Eid grounds, social and recreational centers, critical national infrastructure, and other strategic public places,” the Anambra NSCDC boss said.

Commandant Maku sternly warned miscreants, hoodlums, disgruntled elements and vandals to keep off Critical Assets and Infrastructure, adding that the Corps will take strict action against anyone caught or found culpable.

He also directed VIP orderlies to strictly observe Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Rules of Engagement (ROE), and Standing Orders (SO) in the discharge of their duties.

Maku also urged officers and men to be committed, vigilant, and professional, while respecting citizens’ fundamental rights.

“Residents are also urged to remain vigilant, keep a close eye on their children, cooperate with the NSCDC and other security agencies, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest NSCDC office or other security agencies,” he said.

The State Commandant congratulated Muslim faithful on Eid-el-Fitr and urged them to internalize Ramadan’s virtues and teachings. He also encouraged Nigerians to obey the laws and pursue the common good.
