The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has expressed its support for the upcoming discussion organized by the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) addressing security concerns in the northern region.Â
NEF’s Director of Publicity and Advocacy, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, emphasized the importance of bringing all stakeholders together to find effective solutions to the current insecurity issues.
In a statement released, Suleiman praised the CNG’s efforts in tackling security challenges and acknowledged the necessity for a change in the current approach due to its shortcomings.
NEF’s convener, Professor Ango Abdullahi, recognizes the significance of the CNG’s initiative in promoting dialogue, formulating effective strategies, and ultimately enhancing security in the region.
Suleiman stated, “The CNG’s roundtable discussion on security in the North is a timely and commendable initiative. It is essential to recognize the significance of their efforts in addressing these security concerns.”
He highlighted the aim of the discussions, emphasizing the need for dialogue, effective strategies, and overall improvement in the security situation.
Scheduled for January 24 and 25, 2024, in Abuja, the roundtable discussion aims to gather various stakeholders, including government representatives, security agencies, community leaders, and experts.
The objective is to foster inclusive and productive conversations leading to actionable solutions for the prevalent security challenges in the North.
Suleiman underscored the importance of supporting such initiatives to create a safer environment for all residents of the region.
He called on individuals, organizations, and government agencies to rally behind the CNG, contributing their expertise and resources for the success of the discussion.
“We must all support the CNG’s roundtable discussion and contribute to finding lasting solutions to the security challenges faced in the North,” urged Suleiman. He emphasized that joint efforts and collaborative strategies are essential to effectively address persistent insecurity in the region, urging active participation from various entities.
