Nollywood Actress Omeche Oko Hospitalised After Motorcycle Accident On Movie Set

—

Nollywood actress Omeche Oko is recovering in a hospital after a motorcycle accident on a film set in Lagos left her with a leg injury.

The accident happened on Tuesday, June 23, while Oko was filming a scene that required her to ride as a passenger on a motorcycle driven by her colleague, actor Victory Michael. During the scene, the motorcycle crashed near the movie location, throwing both actors from the bike. Michael struck his chest against a nearby pole and briefly lost consciousness, while Oko sustained a leg injury.

Crew members and colleagues on set rushed both actors to a hospital, where they received treatment. Oko’s leg has since been placed in a cast.

On Wednesday, June 24, Oko shared a video of the crash on her Instagram page, along with footage from her hospital bed. In her caption, she wrote: “Life is very, very fragile. It could have been a different story, but God said NO. If u see an actor today, give them a hug. We take a lot of risks for the craft. All i can say is THANK YOU GOD.”

Several Nollywood figures responded to the post with messages of support, including Mofe Duncan, Chinenye Nnebe, Nkechi Blessing Sunday, Alichi Chizzy Mbah, Nosa Rex, Chidi Dike, Toniala Aladese, Doris Ifeka, and Onyi Alex, as well as producers Uche Nancy and Toyosi Etim Effiong.

Fans also used the comment section to ask about Victory Michael’s condition, with many pointing out that he appeared to take the worst of the impact while shielding Oko. Others raised questions about safety arrangements on set, including whether a medical team was present during the shoot.

Oko is said to be stable as of the time of writing.
