No More Physical Visits as FG Digitises Certificate Verification

The Federal Government has fully automated the evaluation and authentication of academic certificates, eliminating the need for applicants to physically visit the Federal Ministry of Education.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, announced the development in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, describing the initiative as a major step towards achieving the government’s digital transformation agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Under the new system, applicants can complete the entire academic credential evaluation and authentication process online through the Ministry’s dedicated platform.
The Ministry said the reform is aimed at reducing bureaucratic delays, speeding up the processing of applications, improving transparency and making its services more accessible to Nigerians and applicants residing outside the country.

According to Alausa, the automated system will also strengthen the integrity and credibility of Nigeria’s academic certification process by providing institutions, employers and other stakeholders with a more structured and reliable means of verifying qualifications.
The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to deploying technology to modernise education governance, improve institutional efficiency and provide more citizen-centred services.
Applicants seeking academic certificate evaluation and authentication are advised to use the Ministry’s official platform, essverify.education.gov.ng, while enquiries can be directed to ess1@education.gov.ng.
The statement was signed by Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education.
