NNPP Condemns Abba Yusuf’s Exit, Says Party Remains Strong in Kano

The Deputy National Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Prince Nweze Onu, has strongly condemned the resignation of Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabiru Yusuf, from the party, describing the move as a betrayal of the voters who brought him to power.
Prince Onu said the NNPP remains unshaken by the governor’s defection, stressing that the party enjoys strong grassroots support and wide acceptance across Kano State. According to him, the strength of the NNPP lies with the people and not with political office holders.
Reacting to claims by Governor Yusuf that his decision was influenced by internal conflicts within the party, Prince Onu dismissed the allegation as unfounded, describing it as a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of the party.
He insisted that there is no internal crisis within the NNPP at any level, noting that the party has maintained unity, sincerity, and cooperation across its national and state structures.
He reaffirmed his unwavering support for the leadership of the party’s national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, whom he described as a symbol of principled, people-oriented leadership.
Speaking on the 2027 general elections, Prince Onu said the contest would be between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ordinary Nigerians. He argued that even if the APC controls all 36 state governorships, it would not prevent the party from suffering a humiliating defeat at the polls.
He called on the people of Kano State and NNPP supporters nationwide to remain calm, resolute, and optimistic, assuring them that the party would experience a political turnaround in the near future, driven by the will of the people.
