NiMet, NCAT Seal Strategic Partnership to Strengthen Aviation Training and Service Delivery

—

The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, Prof. Charles Anosike, has formalized a strategic partnership with the Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Dr. Danjuma Ismaila, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

The agreement signals a renewed commitment by both institutions to deepen collaboration in professional training, capacity development, and improved service delivery within Nigeria’s aviation and meteorological sectors.

Under the terms of the MoU, the two institutions will collaborate in the utilization of training facilities, provide advisory support for aviation training programmes, and deliver specialized long and short term courses tailored for NiMet personnel. The partnership also includes staff exchange programmes, joint training initiatives, and the use of NiMet’s Training School in Oshodi, Lagos, to conduct International Civil Aviation Organization compliant aviation training.

The framework outlines cooperation in critical professional areas such as aviation operations and management, safety management systems, crisis management, aviation security, air navigation systems, and airport operations. It also provides for jointly organized academic programmes, including diploma training in aviation meteorology, aimed at strengthening technical expertise in the sector.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prof. Anosike reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to sustained human capital development. He emphasized that continuous investment in training, technical collaboration, and institutional partnerships remains vital to achieving operational excellence and supporting safe and efficient air navigation across Nigeria.

The partnership is expected to enhance technical capacity within the aviation ecosystem while promoting knowledge sharing and institutional synergy between the two agencies.
