Troops of the Joint Task Force North-East, under Operation HADIN KAI, have rescued 86 kidnapped victims and foiled a terrorist ambush in Borno State.
According to a statement on Sunday, soldiers from the 135 Special Forces Battalion encountered Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters at Dutse Kura on Sunday while responding to reports of abductions along the Buratai–Kamuya Road.
The troops pursued the insurgents to Mangari, destroying 11 makeshift terrorist structures in a follow-up operation.
The rescued victims included men, women, and children. Recovered items included an AK-47 rifle with five magazines and 73 rounds, four PKT ammunition belts, five civilian vehicles, five motorcycles, eight bicycles, and two logistics tricycles.
Additionally, troops at Mangada apprehended 29 suspected terrorist logistics suppliers heading to the Chilaria area.
The suspects were seized with two pickup vans and a tricycle carrying about 1,000 litres of petrol, engine oil, new truck tires, medical supplies, and foodstuffs.
The military commended the troops for their bravery and professionalism and encouraged them to continue operations to deny terrorists freedom of action in the North-East.
