Nigerian Stock Market Adds N74 Trillion in One Year as Investor Confidence Soars

Nigeria’s stock market has delivered one of its strongest performances in recent history, with investors gaining more than N74 trillion in market value over the past year as confidence in the economy continued to improve.

The News Chronicle reports that the reason for the rally is due to improved earnings of enterprises, recapitalisation of banks, foreign exchange reforms as well as the surging of both local and foreign investors.

According to market statistics, the capitalised value of the Nigerian Exchange increased from N85.46 trillion in July 2025 to N159.6 trillion, representing an impressive increase of 87 percent within just a year. In addition, the All Share Index of the Market rose by 83 percent throughout the year.

Shares of well-known firms like Airtel Africa, MTN Nigeria, Dangote Cement, BUA Foods, BUA Cement and Seplat Energy, were some of the main contributors to the market’s rise. Similarly, the stocks of GTCO, Zenith Bank, UBA, First Holdco, and Fidelity Bank, among others, drew heavy investment from investors as a result of recapitalisation and improved performance in the banking sector.

It is expected that the Nigerian Exchange will continue to experience significant growth in the years that follow because of the aforementioned reforms, as well as increased dividends and strong corporate performance, provided that the current economic conditions are favourable.
