Nigerian Police Arrest Notorious Car Thief, Recover Six Stolen Vehicles in Borno State

The Borno State Police Command has apprehended a suspected car thief, identified as Mari Paul, following a thorough investigation and surveillance by the command’s crack squad. 

The suspect was arrested with six stolen vehicles in his possession. this was disclosed by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, on Saturday.

According to ASP Daso, Mari Paul had been under investigation for some time due to his involvement in a series of car thefts.

His method involved breaking into people’s homes, locking the occupants inside, and then making away with their vehicles.

One of the incidents he confessed to involved stealing a Toyota Corolla after securing the homeowner inside their house.

During interrogation, Mari Paul revealed the details of his operations and confessed to stealing multiple vehicles using similar tactics.

His arrest marks a significant breakthrough for the police, as his activities had caused unrest in various communities.

Further investigations led to the arrest of Modu Ishaku, a 39-year-old vulcanizer, who was identified as one of Mari Paul’s accomplices.

Modu admitted to receiving stolen vehicles from the prime suspect and confessed to having received six cars in total.

The recovered vehicles included three Toyota Camry models, two Honda cars, and one Toyota Corolla LE.

The Borno State Police Command has urged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies, especially in supporting the Enhanced Crime Management and Reporting (ECMR) initiative.

This initiative involves creating a comprehensive biometric database that would assist in tracking and combating criminal activities, ensuring greater security and safety for the public.

The police commended the efforts of the investigative team and reassured the public of their commitment to protecting lives and property.
