The 4 Special Forces Command of the Nigerian Army, based in Doma, Nasarawa State, has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding national security and maintaining the country’s territorial integrity.Â
Major General Hilary Nzan, the Commander of the 4 Special Forces, made this declaration during a five-day Operation Planning Cadre training for officers held in Doma local government area, on Tuesday.
General Nzan emphasized that the training was designed to equip officers with essential skills and technical knowledge necessary to tackle security challenges in their operational areas.
He explained that the Operation Planning Cadre would provide field officers with the opportunity to learn and engage with the fundamental aspects of military operations to support and execute strategic plans effectively.
This annual training, conducted by the Army’s Department of Training at their headquarters in Abuja, aims to prepare young officers with the latest techniques required to address evolving security threats.
The inclusion of sister security agencies and paramilitary organizations in the exercise underscores a collaborative approach to security operations.
In alignment with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja’s Command Philosophy, General Nzan stated that the Nigerian Army is focused on transforming into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force.
This transformation is aimed at achieving the army’s constitutional responsibilities in a joint operational environment.
General Nzan highlighted that the training modules were meticulously crafted to provide officers with the operational planning essentials needed to achieve the Army’s goals and objectives.
He urged all participants to share their opinions and ideas freely to contribute to the successful attainment of the cadre’s objectives. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of effective synergy, collaboration, and coordination with other security agencies.
Major General Adams Audu, Commandant of the Nigerian School of Military Engineering in Makurdi, provided additional insight into the purpose of the Operation Planning Cadre.
He explained that the training is intended to enhance the skills of middle cadre officers by familiarizing them with the latest operational practices and procedures.
The Army’s efforts are focused on addressing various security challenges, including insurgency, banditry, farmers-herders conflicts, kidnapping, and militancy.
General Audu stressed that the Army is at the forefront of combating these security issues, despite the tactics employed by malicious groups to undermine the Army’s successes.
He noted that all personnel must possess the necessary skills and understanding to effectively address these challenges through well-planned and executed operations.
The Operation Planning Cadre is designed to improve participants’ capabilities and broaden their knowledge of operational planning and maneuvering strategies.
The training aims to ensure that all personnel are well-prepared to handle the complexities of modern warfare and security operations.
Several officers from allied agencies, including Lucia Samuel-Mhii, the Nasarawa State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and Stephen Abene, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Correctional Service, expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the training.
They indicated that the insights and knowledge gained would significantly enhance their roles and responsibilities in contributing to national security efforts.
