Nigerian Army uncovers ISWAP owned bakery in Borno

—

In a recent development in the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in Nigeria, the Nigerian Army has uncovered a bakery believed to be operated by the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists.
Situated in Maisani within the Timbuktu Triangle of the Damboa Local Government Area in Borno State, the discovery came as a result of diligent work by troops from Operation Lake Sanity III and Operation Hadin Kai.
According to insights provided by counter-insurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the bakery’s discovery was a significant achievement, shedding light on the clandestine activities of the terrorist group in the region.
This revelation surfaced through a post on a reliable platform, X, where Zagazola detailed the combined efforts of the 199 Special Forces Battalion, Hybrid Forces, and Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) during their operations.
Reports indicate that the bakery was promptly dismantled upon its discovery, with seized items including two Lister generating plants, a baking machine, and various baking materials.
This find proved the diverse means through which terrorist organizations sustain their operations, often leveraging seemingly innocuous facilities for their sinister purposes.
Moreover, Zagazola highlighted the broader scope of the week-long clearance operation, which witnessed the complete dismantling of terrorist strongholds across the Timbuktu Triangle.
Areas such as Buk 1, 2, and 3, Talala, Ajigin, Dusula, Abulam, and Gorgi were specifically targeted, reflecting the extensive reach of these insurgent groups and their disruptive activities.
Of particular concern were the strategic locations chosen by the terrorists for their attacks, including major roads such as those leading to Damboa and Damaturu-Maiduguri.
Additionally, towns like Askira, Buratai, and Buni Yadi were not spared from their violent incursions.
Furthermore, the destruction of vital infrastructure, such as the high-tension transmission line linking Borno and Yobe States, highlights the broader impact of terrorism on the region’s socioeconomic fabric.
In essence, the discovery of the bakery serves as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian Army and its allies in the fight against terrorism.
It shows the necessity of continued vigilance and proactive measures to root out terrorist elements and restore peace and stability to affected regions.
