Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been declared winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary held in the state over the weekend. 

Aiyedatiwa secured a total of 48, 569 votes to pick the party’s ticket for the forthcoming November 16 governorship election.

Meanwhile, his closest contender, Mayowa Akinfolarin, trailed behind with a total of15,343 votes, while Chief Olusola Oke secured the third position with 14,865 votes.

Announcing the election result, the Chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee and Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo who reflected on the competitive nature of the primaries, highlighted the rigorous contest that characterized the electoral process.

The primaries held across the 18 council areas of Ondo State, witnessed keen participation from party members and supporters.

Aiyedatiwa was sworn in as governor of the state on December 27, 2023, following the death of the former governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
