Nigerian Army Uncover IED Factory, Eliminate Several ISWAP Terrorists in Borno

Nigerian Army troops recently made a significant discovery in their ongoing efforts against the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) fighters.
They uncovered a facility used for the production of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Abulam-BUK, Damboa LGA of Borno state.
According to reports from Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication, the troops engaged in a clearance operation at the factory, resulting in the elimination of several terrorists.
The operation was part of a larger initiative known as Operation Desert Sanity III, a subsidiary of Operation HADIN Kai, which involves Special Forces troops, HYBRID forces, and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
During the week-long clearance operation, troops from Sector 2, Special Forces Brigade of the Nigerian Army, coordinated with the Nigerian Air Force and the CJTF to target the insurgents’ strongholds in the Timbuktu Triangle, including Buk, Talala, and Gorgi within the notorious Sambisa forest.
The publication detailed the gradual but determined advancement of the troops into the insurgents’ territories, marked by multiple encounters aimed at weakening the terrorist presence.
With their superior firepower, the troops successfully compelled the terrorists to retreat and abandon the IED production facility.
Moreover, the relentless efforts of the troops resulted in the destruction of many terrorist enclaves, prompting top ISWAP commanders to flee the area in response to the military pressure.
The successful operation underscores the ongoing commitment of the Nigerian Army and its allies to combatting terrorism and restoring peace and security in the region.
