Nigerian Army troops repelled a terrorist attack on Doron Baga, a fishing community in Borno State, on Wednesday night.
According to local sources, the attackers arrived in over 15 boats from Lake Chad Island, targeting areas where fishermen operate.
However, the swift response of Nigerian Army troops, supported by local vigilantes and hunters, prevented the terrorists from infiltrating the community.
The combined forces forced the attackers to retreat, leaving behind two boats and a dead body.
A vigilante member from the community, speaking anonymously, confirmed the incident on Thursday night.
“They came through the island towards Doron Baga, where our fishermen work, but the army acted quickly and pushed them back,” the vigilante said.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
