The Nigerian Army, working alongside other security agencies, has apprehended a female arms courier and dismantled a notorious terrorist network, in Plateau State.
A security analyst and counter insurgency in lake chad region, Zagazola Maka, said “these efforts also led to the capture of a significant cache of weapons and ammunition, while neutralizing several terrorists in the process.
According to zagazola Maka “On October 17, 2024, troops were able to arrest a female arms courier, identified as Mrs. Fidausu Hassan, along with her accomplice, Mr. Sani Isah Musa, at the Barikin Ladi Motor Park in Plateau State.”
Their capture followed a trail of intelligence that revealed an arms-smuggling operation in which weapons were being transported from Plateau State to supply terrorists in Zamfara State.
The arrest of the two suspects was a key breakthrough in disrupting the activities of a major gun-running syndicate that had been supporting terrorist operations in the region.
During the operation, troops recovered a significant haul of 505 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition from the suspects.
The series of raids and ambushes, carried out as part of the wider operation, also resulted in the neutralization of numerous terrorists.
In addition, a high-profile terrorist, whose identity has not been disclosed, was successfully captured, further weakening the terror networks operating in the region.
This operation marks a significant success in the ongoing efforts of the Nigerian Army to combat terrorism and secure the safety of communities across the country.
