President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday reassured Nigerians that the nation will not allow agents of instability to threaten its peace, unity, or sovereignty.
In a statement made available to The News Chronicle by the Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), Bayo Onanuga, the President spoke while hosting religious and traditional leaders for an interfaith Ramadan breaking of the fast at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, highlighting the critical role of faith and community leaders in promoting stability and moral guidance across the country.
“Yes, we face challenges. Terrorists are desperate, leaving trails of blood as they falter. But Nigeria will never surrender. We are not discouraged. We are going to win—and win well,” President Tinubu said.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to leveraging his leadership to sustain economic growth and improve national prosperity.
“I am just one person among millions, grateful for the opportunity to serve. The economy has turned the corner. Pensioners are receiving relief, and we have saved Nigeria from bankruptcy. No governor is running to banks to pay salaries anymore,” he added.
The President pledged continued investment in key sectors such as agriculture and education, aiming to leave a lasting legacy for future generations. He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, emphasizing that his administration remains focused on building a safer, more secure, and prosperous nation for all.
In his remarks, the Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar, thanked the President for hosting leaders of Nigeria’s major religions, describing the gathering as a powerful symbol of national unity. He prayed for God’s guidance, protection, and peaceful coexistence in the country, as well as for the President’s success.
Representing the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa`ad Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe highlighted the significance of interfaith cooperation.
Meanwhile, Christian leaders, including Archbishop Daniel Okoh of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and representatives of The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), pledged support for the administration’s efforts to transform the economy and strengthen national security.
Traditional rulers and religious leaders from all six geopolitical zones attended the event, reinforcing a message of unity, faith, and resilience.
